Last Friday brought the end of our first year partnering with My Hot Lunchbox. We hope you all enjoyed the option of having a hot lunch 3 days a week throughout the school year. This program would not have happened if it weren’t for the faithful individuals who volunteered each and every week to make sure all lunches were sorted and distributed to classrooms! If you see one of these amazing volunteers, be sure to share your appreciation for their dedication, time and hard work. Angie Pribeagu, Heather Garo, and Emily Adler served most weeks that we offered hot lunch. In addition to those three, you can also thank Jenny Wilson, Katy Sanchez, Maria Meyer, Rhonda McNally, Teresa Merrell, and Rikki Wright for all the times they stepped in to help when needed. You all were a tremendous help to the school office staff and your service to the student body is greatly appreciated. We pray you have a restful and hot lunch free summer!
Congratulations to Our Boys Volleyball Team! Last Thursday our DCS Boys Volleyball Team (#4 seed) took the win against 3A Creswell (#5 seed) in the quarterfinals of the State Championships. Matching up against the #1 seed 3A Portland Adventist Academy this morning for the semi-finals, our boys played one of their best games of the season but came up short losing the match in the 4th set 24-26. This put them in the 3rd place game this afternoon against #3 seed 2A Western Christian. Western proved to be a very scrappy and tenacious team, but the boys pulled out the win in a 5-set battle and secured 3rd in State for the 3A/2A/1A classification. DCS Boys Volleyball was the only 1A team to finish within the top 7 in the State.
Congratulations to Our Track Athletes! This past week a total of 24 schools competed in 17 events over two days at the district meet. In each event, only two athletes out of a potential 72 had the opportunity to advance to the state meet. Eight of our DCS athletes earned the 1st or 2nd spot in 15 different events and are off to the world-renowned Hayward Field to compete in the OSAA State Track & Field Championships!
In addition to these individual achievements, our boys team placed 2nd overall in districts, while our girls team placed 5th in districts, among the 24 schools competing. What an incredible accomplishment!
